Driver dies in Kialla West crash

Emergency services have blocked the Goulburn Valley Hwy in Kialla West.

2.21PM UPDATE: A person has died following a fatal collision in Kialla West on Wednesday, August 17.

Police said it is believed a car and a truck collided head-on at the intersection of Goulburn Valley Hwy and Moira Drive about 12.55pm.

The driver and sole occupant of the car died at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.

The truck driver sustained serious injuries and was treated by paramedics.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said two people were taken to Goulburn Valley health by ambulance.

A man in his 20s was taken to hospital in a stable condition with upper body injuries, while a man in his 60s was taken to hospital in a stable condition for observation, the spokesperson said.

The highway was closed, with traffic detoured around the scene via River Rd, Central Kialla Rd and Murchison-Violet Town Rd, while police investigated the crash.

The circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and an investigation is ongoing.

Two people have been taken to Goulburn Valley Health following the incident at about 12.55pm.

Their condition is unknown.

The incident is believed to involve heavy vehicles, but the News was unable to confirm the nature of the incident.

The road has been closed in both directions, with detours in place at River Rd in the north.
