Roads in the Goulburn Valley are under motorists’ microscopes according to the Nationals, who have put a list of the top 10 worst roads in the state before Victorian Roads and Road Safety Minister Ben Carroll.

Murchison-Violet Town Rd, Echuca Rd and the Goulburn Valley Hwy featured strongly in the more than 2000 responses sent to the Nationals.

Shadow Roads Minister Danny O’Brien said the results showed that motorists were fed up with the state of Victoria’s roads.

“There are so many roads in need of work across the state and we’ll now be forwarding the list to the Roads Minister for his attention,” Mr O’Brien said.

He said road maintenance budget cuts had left Victorians with “unsafe roads right around the state”.

Mr O’Brien was in Shepparton recently alongside Nationals candidate for Shepparton Kim O’Keeffe, who said motorists had spoken and needed a government that would listen.

“Our roads are shocking, we didn’t need a public vote to discover that — you don’t have to drive far to see the evidence for yourself,” Ms O’Keeffe said.

“We deserve safer roads. Some of our worst roads are vital transport routes that a lot of people and businesses rely on every day.

“People have a clear choice this November. The only way to fix our roads is a change in government.”
