Support: Australia Post has given the Goulburn Valley Suicide Awareness Group a grant.

Australia Post’s 2023 community grants program is making a difference nationwide, and the Goulburn Valley Suicide Awareness Group is one of it’s deserving recipients.

With a grant of $2000, the funds will contribute to the Goulburn Valley Suicide Awareness Walk, offering vital support group facilitation training and the SafeTALK module, which will be provided by the Anxiety Recovery Centre Victoria.

This initiative aims to foster inclusivity, support, and empowerment, primarily targeting families, friends, and workmates affected by suicide.

United for a cause: Previous participants in the project take the walk.

It will equip people with the skills and encouragement to engage in discussions about mental health, ask timely and appropriate questions, and provide much-needed support and resources.

Goulburn Valley Suicide Awareness Group secretary Steve Joblin said the project will continue its walk to raise awareness and will now be able to take a further step.

“Providing training and skills for a grass roots response that will strengthen community understanding and action to improve mental health and well-being,” he said.

The next walk is scheduled for Sunday, September 8, 2024.
