Two major infrastructure grants have been awarded under Greater Shepparton City Council’s Our Sporting Future program.

Council will contribute $30,000 towards a $133,000 project to provide a safe and secure event control centre for the Shepparton and District Car Club.

The centre will include a first-aid treatment centre, a family friendly spectator area, meeting room, storage and scrutineering bay at the club’s racing facility in Little Rd, Mooroopna.

Greater Valley Calisthenics Club will receive a grant of $20,000, covering half the cost of bathroom facilities to replace two bathrooms that are in unsuitable condition due to mould, cracks and difficult-to-clean surfaces.

Minor grants have been approved for the Tallygaroopna Football Netball Club ($1650) for an ice machine to be used by trainers to treat injuries, Mooroopna Football Netball Club ($1853) for secure lighting around the netball courts and Shepparton Rowing Club ($13,752) to concrete the floor of the club.

Sports aid grants, which encourage development and participation in sports, have been awarded to Shepp Feathers Incorporated ($2466) for badminton equipment and Shepparton Table Tennis Association (5000) to assist with preparation of a strategic plan.
