Greater Shepparton City Council has successfully completed its 2023/2024 Road Resealing Program.

Council invested over $6 million to upgrade 71 roads across the municipality, with works including ‘spray sealed’ road resurfacing, ‘asphalt’ road resurfacing and pavement ‘stabilisation’, covering more than 61km of road in 23 towns and localities.

Acting director infrastructure Kelli Halden highlighted the significance of the program.

“Greater Shepparton City Council has the responsibility of managing around 1200km of sealed roads, which require ongoing maintenance and resealing,” she said.

“Council compiles a schedule of works each financial year, which outlines where the resealing will be taking place across the municipality and the extent of the works.

“The program aims to ensure our roads, which are the region’s most important infrastructure, are maintained appropriately and remain fit for purpose.”

The annual resealing initiative prioritises works based on various factors, including the condition of the existing seal, traffic volumes, pavement strength, drainage efficiency and the extent of road defects.

This comprehensive approach ensures that the roads remain functional and safe for the community.
