A comedian and a smoothie-blending bike will help Greater Shepparton stand out at the Melbourne Career Expo this weekend.

The marketing team from the Great Things Happen Here initiative has partnered with the region’s biggest employers and supporters to showcase local job opportunities.

Greater Shepparton City Council partnerships and marketing co-ordinator Liz Connick said a major part of attending the expo was promoting the GROW Greater Shepparton Jobs Board — with all job inquiries received during the expo being directed to this site.

“While we know every region has jobs, Greater Shepparton offers a balanced economy and lifestyle like no other,” she said.

"We are encouraging all businesses and organisations to post their job vacancies on the Jobs Board by Wednesday, July 13.

“Businesses need to be seen to be heard and we need to make it easy for people looking for a career for themselves in Greater Shepparton or a job for their partner.

“We look forward to having a wide range of jobs promoted on the GROW Greater Shepparton Jobs Board to act as a one-stop shop for people looking to relocate or wanting a tree change.”

The team has brought comedian Col Cameron on board for the expo and will use blender bikes to mix up the perfect ‘lifestyle blend’ smoothies.

Ingredients will be renamed as lifestyle assets of the Shepparton region: milk will become a ‘long walk by the river’, fruit will be renamed ‘exercise’ and juice will be ‘more time with family’, and attendees will be offered a sample of the blender bike smoothies.

The team is working alongside Goulburn Valley Health, GOTAFE, La Trobe University, APEX Earthworks and the Committee for Greater Shepparton.

Committee for Greater Shepparton chief executive Linda Nieuwenhuizen encouraged job seekers to join some of Australia’s most iconic brands such as SPC, Pental and Tatura Milk, as well as emerging innovators who offered exciting careers and business opportunities.

“With a fantastic lifestyle, excellent schools, university and training options and enviable arts and sporting facilities, Shepparton has something for everyone,” she said.

“We also offer easy access to snowfields, waterways and some of the best food venues and wineries in the country — all of which are right on our doorstep.

“If you are planning your next career or business move, make sure you visit Shepparton and see what we have to offer.”

The expo is running from Friday, July 15 to Sunday, July 17 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.

Businesses can submit their job vacancies on the GROW Greater Shepparton Jobs Board by visiting growgreatershepparton.com.au by July 13.
