Nominations are open for the annual 2024 Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Award.

The award recognises and celebrates the achievements of a woman or women in Greater Shepparton.

It celebrates those whose stories, contributions and actions have inspired and encouraged others to reach their goals by embracing diversity and making a difference in gender equality.

City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali encouraged residents to nominate a deserving woman.

“You can nominate your family members, colleagues and friends for the award, and you are not limited to one nomination; you may know many local women who deserve recognition,” he said.

“Nominating is simple and accessible, with forms available on council’s website and at the council offices.

“Let’s come together to recognise and applaud the inspiring women among us.”

Jamie Lea was the 2023 recipient. She was chosen due to her outstanding commitment to the community, along with the significant contribution she made to local women through:

  • Mentoring young people and sharing her own story as a connector and inspiration
  • Showcasing, celebrating and providing opportunities for local performers, volunteers and leaders
  • Sharing and teaching others the skills of resilience, strength, self-determination and business management
  • Standing up and calling out discrimination and harassment of any kind in a way that is educational
  • Being a passionate advocate for and supporter of Greater Shepparton

The Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Advisory Committee is a group of passionate women from a variety of backgrounds who are committed to the advancement and recognition of local people within Greater Shepparton.

The 2024 women’s award will be presented as part of the 2024 Greater Shepparton Volunteer Recognition Awards Ceremony on May 20.

Nominations close at 5pm on Friday, March 29.
