Goulburn Valley Health is one of 38 health services and public laboratories across Victoria to share in $105 million of new equipment.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and Health Minister Mary-Anne Thomas made the announcement on August 23.
The latest round of the Medical Equipment Replacement Program means hospitals will get new equipment for acute services such as CT scanners, MRI machines, echocardiogram equipment and fluoroscopy units.
As part of the latest Engineering Infrastructure Replacement Program round, hospitals can also replace infrastructure such as generators, emergency lighting, nurse call systems, patient lifts and air conditioning systems.
Surgery facilities will also be boosted through the $20 million Surgical Equipment Innovation Fund, investing in items such as endoscopes, operating tables and anaesthetic machines.
The funding is said to be a major boost for regional Victoria, with 21 regional health services replacing and upgrading 178 pieces of equipment, from operating suites to neonatal areas.
“These investments back in our hard-working staff, who deserve the most modern equipment and infrastructure at their fingertips,” Ms Thomas said.
Mr Andrews said the government was supporting healthcare workers by providing the best tools and diagnostic equipment so they could continue saving lives.
“It's all part of our plan to help hospitals meet the record demand they’re facing — and deliver world-class care sooner, and closer to home, for every Victorian,” he said.
