GV Hwy crash claims life

Wednesday, November 6: Police have identified the driver killed in last night’s collision on the Goulburn Valley Hwy.

A 20-year-old male from Cobram was killed instantly in a head-on collision with a prime mover truck.

Police said the male was travelling north between Green Lane and Tocumwal along the Goulburn Valley Hwy.

Police allege the male driver crossed the median lane into the path of an oncoming prime mover.

Police said the driver of the truck was uninjured and is assisting police with their inquiry.

Cobram police’s Sen Sgt Ractliffe said he would like to remind people to take care on the roads and ensure they’re concentrating on their driving.

Wangaratta Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Police request anyone with dash cam footage relating to the incident to contact Crimestoppers.

Tuesday, November 5: A person has died in a Melbourne Cup Day collision on the Goulburn Valley Hwy.

It is understood a truck and car collided at Koonoomoo just after 6pm on Tuesday, November 5.

Police said the driver of the car died at the scene.

They are yet to be formally identified.

The man driving the truck stopped at the scene.

He was physically uninjured, police said.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined.

Police investigations are ongoing.

It is the third road-related fatality in the Goulburn Valley in as many days.
