This October, GV Libraries are rolling out the red carpet for the Victorian Seniors Festival, offering an array of events designed to entertain, educate, and inspire the senior community.

From the labyrinth of digital literacy to the cosy circles of crochet and knitting, there’s an activity for every taste and interest.

Book lovers, don’t forget that GV Libraries will host a series of Author Talks.

Notable among them is Robyn Howarth, who will share her harrowing yet inspiring survival story from her book, Faraday - A Community Rediscovered.

Kim McCosker of 4 Ingredients fame will dazzle with quick, easy, and delicious recipes, perfect for those looking to simplify their cooking without compromising on taste.

For mystery lovers, Margaret Hickey will discuss her latest chilling novel, The Creeper.

Film fanatics are in for a treat with screenings of beloved classics and modern hits such as Queen Bees, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, and Roman Holiday, among others.

Meanwhile, the creativity-based events are a haven for crafters and art enthusiasts, offering everything from crochet and knitting groups to workshops on making recycled planters and beeswax wraps.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn a new skill or hone an existing one in a friendly, supportive environment.

In today’s digital age, GV Libraries haven’t forgotten the importance of digital literacy.

Events like ‘Digital Legacy’ and ‘Digital Drop-In’ provide crucial information and support for navigating the online realm.

Plus, there’s a rare opportunity to travel the world with an immersive virtual reality experience, allowing participants to explore distant lands without leaving the library.

Events such as Drumbeats and Tai Chi focus on wellness, promoting physical and mental wellbeing through engaging and gentle exercises suitable for all abilities.

Social butterflies will delight in a plethora of scheduled activities, including board game nights, trivia, and the always-popular Friends of the Library meetings and sales.

GV Libraries’ October schedule, rich with diverse and engaging activities, highlights the Victorian Seniors Festival’s spirit of celebration, connection, and lifelong learning.

It’s an open invitation to the senior community to join in the fun, learn something new, and perhaps discover a new passion.
