The Goulburn Valley Woodworkers are building up to what they described as their biggest and best wood show yet.

This weekend, the GV Woodworkers are hosting their annual Woodworking Show, attracting talented craftsmen from all over Victoria, NSW and SA.

“This year, we have over 30 demonstrators from interstate as well as locally,” club president Emily Slaughter said.

“We are particularly excited to have Tim Schloss, a renowned toy maker, who will teach kids how to craft their very own wooden sword.

“We’ve also secured Doug Rosenhow, who will demonstrate his traditional skills of hand-hewing red gum sleepers – truly an art that is almost lost.”

Dubbed the largest wood show in regional Victoria, the event offers demonstrations in band sawing, joinery, resin pours, wavy chopping boards, and more.

It’s also an opportunity for visitors to purchase woodworking tools and supplies not generally available in Shepparton from various suppliers and stallholders.

But that doesn’t mean visitors can’t still buy local.

Ms Slaughter said her fellow GV Woodworkers members have been busy hammering out a carefully crafted display of wooden items available to purchase this weekend.

“Club members have worked hard milling timber throughout the year to sell at the wood show,” she said.

“The prices and quality of the timber is much better than you generally see in places like Melbourne.”

The GV Woodworkers’ 31st Annual Woodworking Show will be on Saturday, October 28, and Sunday, October 29, from 9am to 4pm, at the Multi-Purpose Pavilion, Shepparton Showgrounds, Archer St, Shepparton.

Entry is $12.50 for adults, $10 for pensioners, free for those under 16, and $20 for a weekend pass. Tickets are available at the door or online via https://tinyurl.com/2m4rh2vy
