Have a meal, make a difference

Shepparton FoodShare’s annual fundraising dinner ‘Make a Meal of June’ will return on Wednesday, June 5.

Shepparton FoodShare provides the community with a vital food-relief service, distributing donated and rescued food to those that need it most.

The need for food relief has surged due to COVID-19, floods and the cost-of-living crisis, making FoodShare’s work indispensable.

FoodShare works closely with local businesses and organisations to meet these extraordinary demands.

However, their work wouldn’t be possible without the support of the community.

“Shepparton FoodShare receives no recurrent or guaranteed funding and therefore relies on its own fundraising efforts,” FoodShare’s Kate Smith said.

“This annual fundraiser and the funds raised help to raise much-needed funds to support some of our operating costs and help keep our doors open, to keep providing food relief across the Goulburn Valley.”

For $100, you can support its mission while enjoying a delicious three-course meal and a welcome drink, courtesy of The Woolshed.

“It’s a great way to come together with friends or colleagues and enjoy the wonderful hospitality of The Woolshed at Emerald Bank, all while supporting our vital local service,” Mrs Smith said.

To conclude the evening, attendees will get an exciting update on the new Mooroopna warehouse, which started construction earlier this year.

Special guest speakers will include Josh from Josh’s Rainbow Eggs and Jolene from Generations Op Shop Food Bank in Tatura.

Josh’s Rainbow Eggs is a regular donor to FoodShare, and Generations Op Shop Food Bank in Tatura is a local service that collects and distributes Shepparton FoodShare food.

A tax-deductible $3000 monthly partnership will be available on the night, supporting operations and offering a return on investment with promotional opportunities.
