Some interesting results have been provided to Jerilderie Lions Club from the visit of the Men’s Health Education Rural Van (MHERV) to Jerilderie in May.
Of the 14 men who took advantage of the visit 13 were reported to have no concerns, with continued regular GP check-ups recommended.
One with an identified issue was recommended to follow up with the GP within the week, and zero to seek immediate medical advice.
Of the 15 women who went along 11 had no concerns, with regular GP visits recommended.
Four had identified issues, to be followed up with the GP within the week and zero with immediate medical advice required.
The clinic’s mobile visitations to the area resulted in an average of 30 people per day being tested on this particular tour; once again spreading the message: ‘Just a 5-10 minute investment of time can save your own, or the life of someone you love.’

Jackianne Molloy and Bill Hanna have welcomed twin daughters, Sophie and Isabelle, born on Friday, July 5. The little girls are sisters for Oscar.
Jackie’s parents, Declan and Mary-T Molloy, are currently visiting from Ireland to help with the new arrivals, and are getting to know the people of Jerilderie.

When school resumes next week, Jerilderie Public School will be hosting the Small Schools Athletics Carnival.
It will be held at Monash Park on Friday, July 26, with a 9.30am start.
Students in K-6 from Jerilderie, Lowesdale and Urana will be participating.

St Joseph’s Catholic School Jerilderie will be holding grandparents’ day on July 23, and will be involved in the Diocesan Athletics Carnival on July 29.

The finals of the local section of Lions Public Speaking will be held at Jerilderie Public School on Thursday, July 25, at 9.30am.
Parents and community members are welcome to attend, but should present at the office upon entry for a visitor’s check-in.

Jerilderie Hospital Auxiliary will hold its annual general meeting next Thursday, July 25, at 2pm in the Community Centre meeting room.
The auxiliary’s function is to provide care and comfort for residents and patients by raising funds for that purpose.
With an ageing membership, and the distinct possibility of decline in numbers, new members are urgently needed to bring fresh ideas, and man/woman power, to fundraising activities.
