Highway patrol intercepts alleged drug drivers

Police officers detected a number of alleged drug drivers on district roads on the weekend.

Victoria Police Highway Patrol Acting Sergeant Wayne Barras said at least eight drivers pulled over by the unit allegedly tested positive for drugs.

One of the drivers, a Footscray woman, 43, allegedly tested positive for drugs after she was pulled over for allegedly overtaking another vehicle illegally on the Goulburn Valley Hwy north of Shepparton about 1.30pm on Saturday, April 23.

Sgt Barras said the woman was allegedly doing 100km/h in an 80km zone while overtaking.

The woman was disqualified from driving and her vehicle was impounded.

Shepparton Highway Patrol Acting Sergeant Murray Moser said Shepparton Highway Patrol stopped two drivers who were allegedly drug driving on the weekend.

A Katandra West woman in her 30s and a Shepparton man, 55, were pulled over.
