History-making rooster calls

Archie, Daisy, Harry and Matilda were part of Corowa Show history this year, being the first entrants in the new rooster calling event. Also pictured were event co-ordinator Sam Nixon and announcer James Southam.

Early this month Corowa resident Sam Nixon heard talks on the ABC about roosting crowing and thought it was a great idea to have an event for the Corowa Show.

“There wasn’t much time to really get it out there in the community, but the word we got around resulted in four youngsters coming forward. They were brilliant!” show secretary Jan McKenna said.

“There was a lot of praise for all four entrants. Their calls really sounded like roosters.”

Jan said the event will be formally presented in next year’s program and should attract a lot of interest.
