Having dogs born in your house creates a special bond. One family knows this all too well.
Jack Russell Cinnamon and Mousey were born into the Bellamy family three years ago and have been loving additions ever since.
Their family describes them as “very happy dogs” who are “super quiet and placid, but can be feisty”.
Sisters Freya and Lila Bellamy especially love the two dogs.
“They’re the best friends you could have,” Lila said.
“They always get cuddles, and they’re very nice in winter when they keep your feet warm.”
Freya said she thought Mousey and Cinnamon were adorable.
“They’re just so excited when we get home because they’re happy that they get to see us,” she said.
“They’re small, and their barks are so tiny that I can barely hear them!”
They both agreed that it’s a different relationship with a dog when it’s born in your house, and they’re like your real family members right from the start.
“We’ve loved them from the day they were born,” Freya said.
“And they love you so much because you’re part of their pack.
“It’s amazing when you get to see them go through stages, from when they’re newborns, and you can hold them in one hand to this.”
Lila has an extra special bond with the dogs, as they were born on her birthday three years ago.
She was supposed to have a party and a sleepover, but then the dog’s mum went into labour and had an emergency caesarean.
“She was a very small dog, and she had four puppies, they all came home that night,” Lila said.
“They were the best birthday present ever.”
The two other dogs were given to some friends, so they’re still within the family.
Cinnamon and Mousey’s mum has since died from a snake bite, defending the house.
It was a significant loss for the family because she’d been with them for about eight years.
But it’s okay because she was an excellent mum and has left such beautiful puppies.
