The Benalla Hospital Auxiliary’s Tea Cosy exhibition and High Tea fundraiser on Friday, April 14, was a big success.

Organiser Bren Brown said the event was part of a larger fundraiser for the Morrie Evans wing, the aged-care care facility at Benalla Hospital.

“It’s to provide an all-abilities kitchen, so residents can make their own meals,” Mr Brown said.

Funds were raised via donations as well as offering the tea cosies for sale.

“People have made and donated the tea cosies,” Ms Brown said.

“We had a few different categories for people to vote on.”

Those were: most popular, best constructed, most imaginative and most creative.

“We have sold 10 so far,” Ms Brown said.

“We have a fundraising goal of $40,000, and after today we have raised about $4000, which takes us to about $25,000.”
