Campaspe Shire Council is conducting an anonymous survey to gauge the status of housing in Rochester and surrounds.
The information gathered will help to inform advocacy and initiatives to address housing needs and challenges.
Campaspe Shire Mayor Rob Amos said with the October 2022 floods two-year anniversary coming up, it was a good time for a housing situation update.
“Much progress has been made during the past two years in rebuilding people’s lives and properties, testament to the dedication, resilience and community spirit of the people of Rochester,” he said.
“However, we are aware that many people from Rochester are still not in their own homes.
“Community feedback indicates many people are still navigating a range of challenges preventing them from moving back into their primary place of residence prior to the flood.
“Getting people back in their own home is a key priority of the Campaspe Municipal Recovery Plan.
“That’s why it’s important we get an accurate picture of the current needs and challenges residents are facing so council and the community recovery committees can advocate and take action on their behalf.”
Rochester households will receive the survey and the Rochester Recovery Update spring newsletter via post soon.
“I encourage everyone in Rochester and surrounds to complete the survey and return it to council by Friday, October 11,” Cr Amos said.
“It’s completely anonymous and only one survey per household is needed.”
