Molyullah Easter Sports returned on Monday, April 10, with more than 2000 people in attendance.

It was a day of fun and games for all the family with the usual events, and some new ones.

Molyullah Sports Committee member Michelle Ramage said after a three-year break, forced by COVID-19 restrictions, it was nice to be back.

“We had a few new things happening, which was great, we had caricatures, dog jumps and a farmers challenge,” Ms Ramage said.

“We had Charlie the young-gun sheep sheerer here, he’s only 11 or 12.

“We also had a horse and cart race this year, which we hadn’t done before.”

She said all events, new and established, were embraced on the day.

“We had all the old favourites, a kids fancy dress on ponies competition, a plant stall, Devonshire tea was served all day, there was three-legged races, egg throwing.

“It was a real fun day for all the kids.”

The popularity of the event did cause some queues early in the day, but Ms Ramage said that would be addressed for next year’s event.

She also asked to thank all the sponsors who made the day possible

“Our main sponsors were Keams fertilisers; Midland Freight; Extons Earthmoving; and Somerset Pastoral Co,” she said.

“These were the gold sponsors that meant we could pay for those extra activities at the end of the day.”

The Ensign’s Issie Hill popped along to take these photos.
