Hundreds evacuated in highest flood on record

Seymour SES evacuated hundreds of people from the evacuation zone in the town’s north.

The evacuation order was placed for most areas north of the train line, from High St through to Butler, Tristan and Tallarook Sts.

The incident control centre in Shepparton oversaw operations.

Seymour SES control Christine Welsh recieved word at about 8.15pm that first responders needed to head out and evacuate residents by 10pm.

At 8.30pm, Seymour was sitting at 7.8m with more water on the way. Seymour’s highest flood on record is 7.64m, set in 1974.
