I Am Woman is a night of nostalgic music and uplifting stories, being held at Riverlinks Eastbank, Shepparton, on Wednesday, April 5.

Award-winning cabaret powerhouses Michaela Burger and Libby O’Donovan join forces in a rollicking, raucous celebration of songs and stories from 1960s Australia.

The show is part of Riverlinks’ popular 2023 Cabaret Season. I Am Woman is based on a real life act of feminist protest in Brisbane’s public bars in 1965.

Ms Burger and Ms O’Donovan tell the stories of activists Merle Thornton and Rosalie Bogner and the protest that changed the course of history and Australian music.

Hear music from the likes of Lynne Roadknight, Wendy Saddington and Alison McCallum in an hour that pays homage to the women who blazed the trails for generations to come.

I Am Woman is an important story for both men and women across Australia. We are so excited to be bringing this show to your town this month,” Ms Burger said.

Riverlinks venues manager Ken Cameron said he was thrilled to kick off the 2023 Cabaret Series with such a powerful and uplifting show.

I Am Woman is going to be an amazing night of music and storytelling. Michaela Burger and Libby O’Donovan are incredible performers, who know how to bring history to life through their powerful voices and exceptional wit,” Mr Cameron said.

“We are also really proud to showcase local talent here at Riverlinks, and the Rachel Howard Trio are a fantastic example of the amazing musicians we have in our community.”

I Am Woman will be at Riverlinks Eastbank on Wednesday, April 5 at 7pm.

Tickets are available online or through the Riverlinks Box Office at 03 5832 9511.
