Over two weekends the Shepparton Brass and Wind Band is bringing a concert to Merrigum and Dookie and all you need to bring is a gold coin.

The In Your Town series is a collaboration with the band and Riverlinks, with the goal to bring entertainment beyond Shepparton’s main performing arts centres and directly into local halls and smaller communities

Songs featured include selections from Wicked and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, as well as the four pieces the band will take to the national competition next month.

The Dookie Memorial Hall will see the band at 2pm on Sunday, March 16 while Merrigum Public Hall will play host at 2pm on Sunday, March 23.

The band, which brought home the C-grade state medal last year, will be led by conductor Lachlan Gallacher.

“The state championships were a great success from my point of view,” Mr Gallacher said when they returned home.

“It was a massive effort by the band to rehearse and prepare two lots of music for each grade, but they rose to the challenge.”

A raffle will be held at both events, with a range of prizes up for grabs.

Shepparton Brass and Wind has up to 35 members aged from 10 to 70, and performs regularly in the community at a variety of festivals and events.

Whether you’re a seasoned musician or a budding talent, the band welcomes new members to join its musical family and share in the joy of performance.
