Special occasion: The International Women’s Day event was held in Tahbilk Homestead’s private gardens, giving guests exclusive access to the normally private area within the Tahbilk Estate.

The backdrop of the beautiful Tahbilk Homestead’s private gardens was the perfect setting for Strathbogie Shire Council’s International Women’s Day event.

A morning tea was served, and local guest speakers Hayley Purbrick and Emily Quattrocchi delivered inspiring talks to those who attended.

Strathbogie Shire Council administrator Peter Stephenson said it was inspiring to hear from the two speakers, who each had their own unique points to bring to this year’s theme, #InspireInclusion.

“Hayley provided an insightful talk on her sustainability practices as well as how she leads the charge to integrate improved sustainability in her family business, Tahbilk Wines, as well as throughout the winery itself,” he said.

“Then we heard from Emily, who inspired guests with her incredible journey to a career in the film industry.

“An aspiring director, Emily has already had several accolades, and her stories about her tenacity to ensure the industry, and the world more broadly, does better when it comes to inclusion and accessibility really impacted the audience.”

International Women’s Day annually celebrates women’s social, economic, cultural and political achievements worldwide.

The IWD 2024 #InspireInclusion campaign aimed to collectively forge a more inclusive world for women.

Mr Stephenson congratulated council officers for their efforts in organising the event.

“A huge thank you to Tahbilk for the incredible catering and to the Purbrick family for hosting the event on their beautiful private property adjoining Tahbilk Wines,” he said.
