A key intersection in Shepparton is among those in line for an upgrade thanks to funding from the state government.
The Graham St and Goulburn Valley Hwy (Numurkah Rd) intersection is on track to receive a full upgrade with various options being considered, including new traffic lights, to improve accessibly to health services.
Graham St provides access to Goulburn Valley Health — including the emergency department — as well as other key services.
“We’re upgrading the Graham St and Goulburn Valley Hwy intersection to create safer and easier access to the hospital, University of Melbourne Shepparton campus, aged care and nearby health services,” Victorian Roads and Road Safety Minister Ben Carroll said.
“Thousands of vehicles enter and exit this intersection every day and with a projected increase, it’s imperative road accessibility is at the highest standards of safety for a rapidly growing area.”
The Labor Government funded $700,000 for the project through the 2022/23 Victorian Budget.
“Given the high volumes of traffic, the current layout of the intersection can be tricky for all road users to pass through safely which is why we are developing a plan to improve traffic flow and provide safer crossing points for pedestrians and cyclists on the Goulburn Valley Hwy,” State Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said.
