Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal single-vehicle crash in Lockington on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Lockington Rd about 3.50pm following reports a solo rider had fallen off a motorcycle.
Police were quickly on the scene and found the rider with critical injuries, but sadly, the 43-year-old Echuca man died at the scene.
Acting Seargeant Gary Atkins of Campaspe Highway Patrol attended the scene and said the road was closed for four hours after the tragedy.
“The rider was travelling north on Lockington Rd, south of Prairie-Rochester Rd, just prior to the water channel (Waranga Western Channel),” he said.
“We’re still in the early stages of the investigation and it’s a matter for the coroner.
“There have been no other (recent) incidents near that intersection.”
The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.
