Cobram has a new arborist and excavator.

Jacob Murrells moved from Echuca to Cobram for reasons of the heart and with 11 years working in the arborist and excavating industry is keen to find work and settle in.

“In the tree side of things I specialise in the open space tree removal. Anything from mid size to land clearing. In earth moving I do everything from site cleaning to excavations,” Mr Murrells said.

As a Certificate III qualified arborist, Mr Murrells has utilised his skills in the past working for both council and the state government.

“I’ve worked for local councils such as Campaspe Shire and Murray River Council, VicRoads,” he said.

Talking to the Courier, he said he was available to work Monday to Friday and could cover the Echuca- Moama to Cobram-Yarrawonga area.

“I can do everything from domestic, commercial to local council,” he said.

To assist him Mr Murrells utilises a 3.5T Bobcat excavator with grab, buckets and augers and a T590 Bobcat track loader with various attachments.

Away from work Mr Murrells, has been involved in sports.

Football has been his sport of choice and he has been involved in the footy season both on local and national levels.

“I am involved in GV umpires with the local footy community after working for seven years as a boundary umpire with the AFL,” he said.

Asked who he supports in the AFL, Mr Murrells said he was an Essendon Bombers supporter.

As for settling in Cobram, Mr Murrells praised the town and the population.

“It’s nice and quiet, people are good.”
