In the tranquil town of Longwood, artist Jenny Kelly is poised to share her creations at Strathbogie Shire's ARTBOX, now nestled in Avenel following a successful three-month residency at Strathbogie's Memorial Hall.

Ms Kelly, a self-taught artist, has been painting for nearly six years, initially starting with watercolour paints and pencils before transitioning to charcoal sketching.

Her artwork draws inspiration from the expansive landscapes and the abundant native flora and fauna of the region.

ARTBOX has been a resounding success across Strathbogie Shire, having featured more than 30 artists, council administrator Peter Stephenson said.

“Sometimes we forget to acknowledge the artistic talent that surrounds us, and ARTBOX has provided a great opportunity for locals to showcase to locals," Mr Stephenson said.

"The contrast in styles and palettes used by our local artists, including our junior members of the primary school in Strathbogie, has highlighted the talent, and burgeoning talent, in this shire.

“I am looking forward to seeing Jenny’s artwork, where she uses a technique of wet-on-wet with the paint gently doing its own thing, allowing the colours to merge and bleed into each other and seep into the paper. She then uses her pencils for the fine lines and delicate detail.”

Ms Kelly's exhibition is set to open on Tuesday, July 2, at Avenel's Jubilee Park and will continue until the end of July.
