John beats son in shearing comp

Father and son duo John (left) and James Nadin go head-to-head in the blade shearing compeition.

The Elders Riverina Sheep Expo crowned a new blade shearing competition champion last Friday.

John Nadin from Macquarie-Wardry Dohne Studs took the win.

While he had the slowest time, his shearing couldn’t be faulted.

But the win didn’t come without some tough competition, which included John’s own son James Nadin.

The two went quite literally head-to-head in the shearing competition, but John’s years of experience was too good for the younger shearers to compete with.

Angus Munro, who was the fastest shearer, came in second place. Tom Lilburne came third.

Judging the shearing were judges Russell Jones and Justin Campbell, who said John’s effort was exceptional. “In this case, slow and steady did win the race,” said

Mr Jones.

“While Angus was the quickest, you couldn’t fault John’s shear which was fresh and clean all over.”
