Registrations for Johnno’s Run 2022 are now open, after the official event launch was held on Sunday.
Dozens of people went to Kerrabee Soundshell Moama as the fundraising campaign kicked off, with the run to be held on Sunday, August 7.
Community Living and Respites Services chief executive Leah Taaffe was one of the people in attendance.
“The launch event was fantastic,” Ms Taaffe said.
“We were blessed with some beautiful weather and we had about 60 people turn up to celebrate the launch of Johnno’s Run 2022.”
Ms Taffee said she was excited to have an in-person event this year after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the 2020 and 2021 events to be held virtually.
“We’d really like to have about 175 participants,” she said.
“Last year we had 165 people register, so if we can match that in 2022 we’ll be really happy. As an added bonus, we’d be thrilled if we could raise $25,000.”
The event is organised by CLRS, with money raised going to the Opening Doors Project, an initiative that builds homes for people with a disability.
As an added incentive for fundraising, people who raise between $250 and $500, $501 and $1500 or over $1500 will go into the running to win special prizes.
This year will be the first time Johnno’s Run has included a 21.1km half-marathon as part of the event.
Echuca runner Brady Threlfall will provide a 10-week training plan in the lead-up to the event, to be published weekly in the Riv.
Early bird pricing for adults starts at $49 for the 5km run, $64 for 10km and $74 for 21.1km. Early bird pricing is available until June 12, with registrations open until August 4.
