Attention young writers!
It’s time to flex those creative muscles and submit your work for the 2023 Furphy Literary Awards.
This year’s competition is open to four youth categories, including Junior Short Story, Junior Poetry, Youth Short Story and Youth Poetry.
If you’re 12 and under, the junior categories are perfect for you.
For writers aged 13 to 17 years, the youth categories offer a great opportunity to showcase your skills.
Greater Shepparton City Council is partnering with the Furphy Foundation, La Trobe University and the GV Library Group to give out cash prizes.
Each category has a first prize of $300, second of $100, and third of $50.
Now that school holidays are here, it is the perfect time to develop and refine your stories.
“The awards are a great way for our local young people to express their creativity, individuality and voices,” City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali said.
Entries close on Wednesday, May 31 at 11.59pm. Visit http://www.furphyliteraryaward.com.au/junioryouth for more information on the awards and eligibility criteria.
