A Katamatite woman is expected to lose her licence after speeding through roadworks at the weekend.

Leading Senior Constable Chris Westrope, with Katamatite police, said he was monitoring the area following complaints from workers.

“Construction workers have been complaining about people speeding in the 40(km/h) zone, so I went to have a look and that’s when I saw this woman speed,” he said.

The roadworks were on the Katamatite-Nathalia Rd on Sunday, February 19.

Leading Sen Constable Westrope said he saw the woman drive at 68km/h in a 40km/h roadworks zone.

He followed her for a period of time, observing her overtaking cars and boats as she continued to drive 28km/h over the speed limit.

The minimum penalty for her level of speeding is three month’s licence suspension and the maximum is 10 penalty units. The woman is expected to lose her licence within the next four weeks.
