Underworld secrets revealed
Start off with ‘Underbelly: Real Life Stories’ in Kilmore on Saturday, June 29 from 8pm to 10:30pm, which promises uncensored insights on true crime from Melbourne’s underworld.
Get up close and personal with Sly of the Underworld, journalist, The Age chief crime writer and bestselling author John Silvester and Australian Media Hall of Fame member, Journalist of the Year and Herald Sun crime writer Andrew Rule as they share stories about Melbourne’s underworld.

Rose pruning demonstration
If you are looking for something more mellow, you can join in on the Winter Rose Pruning Demonstration at Seasonal Concepts, 805 Upper Goulburn Rd, Whiteheads Creek.
Diana and Gra Sargeant from Silkies Roses, Clonbinane, have more than 60 years of collective experience with growing roses.
They will run two sessions on Sunday, June 30, from 10am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 4.30pm.
In these demonstrations, Diana and Gra will take you from ‘hesitant’ and ‘self-doubting’ pruner to a professional pruner who will be rewarded healthy roses with exceptional blooms.
The demonstration will cover tools and timing, pruning bush roses, climbing roses and heritage roses and bare root roses.
The session is $70 and morning or afternoon tea will be served.
The demonstration will proceed irrespective of the weather.
Waterproof footwear is recommended.

Yarn turtle crafting
If crafting is your thing, maybe this new winter project will keep your hands busy.
A yarn turtle crafting event will be held in Seymour on Tuesday, July 2 from 10.30am to 11.30am and Wednesday, July 3 from 1.30pm to 2.30pm at the Seymour Customer and Library Service Centre, 125 Anzac Ave, Seymour.
This is a free school holiday program, but bookings are essential.
NAIDOC Week events
Don’t miss Seymour’s NAIDOC Week event on Wednesday, July 10.
Starting at 10.30am, a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony will be held at Goranwarrabul House, 6 Callen St, Seymour.
It will be followed by a NAIDOC parade to Kings Park, stopping at the War Memorial on High St to lay a wreath.
The main event is from 11am to 2pm at Kings Park (at the green shed) where tucker, stalls, art and lots of family-friendly activities will be available.
