Greater Shepparton City Council is continuing to provide options for disposal of flood waste, including kerbside collections.

The collection of household flood waste from nature strips began on November 2, with seven zones throughout Greater Shepparton assigned a different collection day of the week for four weeks.

However, this collection does not include asbestos or other hazardous materials — if asbestos is suspected, contact a licensed removalist for advice.

Asbestos is also not accepted at Greater Shepparton’s resource recovery centres.

Council’s resource recovery centres are still offering free disposal of flood waste, with Cosgrove Landfill receiving more than 5000 tonnes of flood waste from Greater Shepparton and neighbouring municipalities.

With both of these options available, council is phasing out the skip bins it provided for flood waste from Friday, November 11 — starting with those in Mooroopna.

Council’s resale shops will remain closed until further notice while the focus is on the disposal of flood waste.
