The person who died after his car crashed into a tree on Kialla Rd, Kialla, on Sunday, January 23, has been identified as a Kialla man, 22.

Shepparton Highway Patrol Acting Sergeant Richard Ivory said the man was driving his Volkswagen Golf south on Archer Rd, when he crossed over the Mitchell Rd intersection, veered to the wrong side of the road and hit a tree soon after 1.50pm.

Act Sgt Ivory said the intersection was offset and narrower on the south side.

The man would have been facing a give way sign.

The stop sign on the opposite side of the road near the tree, was knocked over in the crash.

The man died at the scene.

The crash at Kialla continues what has been a horror start to the year on the region’s roads.

Only two days earlier a Shepparton man, 69, died after a crash between two vehicles at the intersection of Lancaster and Dunbar Rds, Lancaster.

Earlier that day a woman died and another was left in a critical condition in a single-vehicle crash on the Hume Fwy in Creightons Creek.

Four men died in a devastating two-car collision between two vehicles at a Pine Lodge intersection on January 4.

The deaths follow two others on New Year’s Eve, with Longwood’s Jaye Munn dying following a motorcycle crash on the Barmah-Shepparton Rd, Kaarimba, and another woman dying in a two-car collision at Yarroweyah.
