Seymour’s Goulburn Park reopened on Saturday, February 25, hot on the heels of Kings Park, which reopened on Friday, February 18.
Both parks had been closed for several months to allow for debris to be cleared and damage repaired following the October 2022 flood.
However, the front oval of Kings Park remains off limits, to allow the new grass to take.
Kings Park committee of management head Ken Hall the front oval should be open in April, in time for footy season, with training being held on the back oval in the meantime.
“Everything is pretty well back to normal except the buildings can’t be used … there is no reason reason why people can’t enjoy themselves,” Mr Hall said.
The barbecue and toilet facilities are also fully operational.
The Seymour Annual Show ’n’ Shine, the Sheep Dog Trials and the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo will all still be going ahead, using the back oval.
A working bee was held at Kings Park on Sunday, February 26.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Fiona Stevens said council appreciated residents’ patience.
“We are eager to welcome back locals and visitors to the park. However, I urge that they use the park responsibly and to follow any signs that may still be in place,” Cr Stevens said.
Some facilities within Goulburn Park remain closed for repairs, including the playground, barbecue areas and standpipe.
