A 13-year-old allegedly stole a car from a Shepparton car park while armed with a carving knife on Saturday, May 20.

Police said the driver of the car was threatened by the girl, who was allegedly brandishing a knife, before the girl stole the keys from them in the Kmart car park in Shepparton about 5pm.

The girl then allegedly drove off and police said they had reports of the white Kia Sportage being driven erratically in Shepparton, Mooroopna and Toolamba.

Police allege the girl was driving at high speeds before she lost control of the car and crashed it at the intersection of Turnbull Rd and MacIsaac Rd in Ardmona about 6.30pm.

Anyone who saw the alleged theft of the car or it being driven erratically is asked to contact Senior Constable Jeremy Rath on 5820 5777 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppersvic.com.au

A 13-year-old Mooroopna girl has been charged with armed robbery, theft of a vehicle, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, assault with a weapon, driving at a dangerous speed, unlicensed driving and stealing from a shop.

She will face a children’s court later this year.
