The Koyuga Nanneella Opposing Wind Turbines group has recently hosted community meetings and barbecues to continue conversations about the Koyuga-Nanneella wind farm proposed by FERA Australia.

The group hosted a barbecue on Friday, October 25 and a community meeting on Monday, November 11 at the Koyuga Hall.

Many of the discussions centred around the Victorian Legislative Council petition sponsored by state Member for Northern Victoria Rikkie-Lee Tyrrell that asks the Victorian Government to reject the proposed site.

KNOWT is looking to promote the petition through social and print media, flyering and displaying the petition.

Committee member Narelle Gilsenan believes the meetings have been positive, particularly in connecting with residents who may not have previously attended events or the initial information session held by FERA in July.

“Plans for continued engagement with the community were also on the agenda, as was seeking promotion of legal services for potential impacted neighbours. Other wind factory developers in Victoria have started seeking neighbour agreements,” she said.

“We anticipate FERA may do the same and want to ensure neighbours are encouraged to seek legal advice before entering any such agreements.”
