A thought-provoking film will be screened in Kyabram, aiming to foster supportive conversations about mental health in our community.

The Kyabram Urban Landcare Group is offering a free community event on Wednesday, November 27 at the Plaza Theatre, focusing on mental health awareness for local farmers.

Starting at 6.30pm, the evening will open with an informative presentation on mental health, followed by the screening of Just A Farmer, a poignant Victorian-made film exploring rural mental health challenges.

Landcare member Michelle Gorman said the group was hosting this event alongside Goulburn Murray Landcare because mental health was an under-discussed topic among farmers.

“These stories don’t get old — they transcend time,” she said.

“We hope people take away that they are not alone — that everybody struggles with their mental health sometimes.

“We hope this event encourages discussion in this community.”

Tickets are free, but reservations are essential. Book a place at trybooking.com/cwmht
