Kyabram police held an amazing Blue Light Disco on Friday, February 9, with over 330 young people enjoying the party at the local pool.
The children played with floaties shaped like footlong subs and hammers (courtesy of Subway and Bunnings) and made the most of the pool obstacle course and a waterslide on the grass that the Kyabram Fire Brigade ensured stayed slippery.
“We are really happy to support youth engagement,” the brigade’s Kim Morrison said.
“We are grateful for the Campaspe shire for letting us come, and hope everyone has a good night.”
Parents caught up with friends and watched as their kids had fun.
“It’s great to see the community’s support,” volunteer Sarah Langley said.
The Kyabram and Tatura Rotary clubs were on the barbecue, cooking a delicious feast.
The Keep In Touch team from Bendigo also joined the party and helped highlight the importance of good mental health in young people.
“It’s good to see so many people from the community,” Keep In Touch’s Brooke Warren said.
Her colleague Stella Moss said, “The music choice is amazing”.
Organisers labelled the event a resounding success.
“We hope everyone had a great night, young people and parents/guardians alike,” Senior Constable Mitchell Bull said.
“Massive thanks to all the Kyabram Blue Light committee and volunteers who continue to make these events possible for our town.
“Shoutout to all the local businesses and organisations that assisted with the party.”
The next Blue Light Disco will be on March 15, with the theme of ‘carnival’.
