Kyabram shares recognition of Elders

True colours: Kyabram P-12 College Chaplain Liz Spicer and First Nations Elder Kaye Hearn at the Kyabram District Health Service NAIDOC Week event.

Kyabram First Nations Elder Kaye Hearn was honoured at the Kyabram District Health Service’s NAIDOC Week celebrations last week.

This year’s NAIDOC Week theme was ‘For Our Elders’.

Each year NAIDOC Week grows in stature, as do the depth of celebrations at the community, state and national level.

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to come together to celebrate the rich history, diverse cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the oldest continuing cultures on the planet.

Flying the flag: Ms Hearn was given the honour of raising the Aboriginal colours on the lawns of the KDHS during the NAIDOC Week ceremony.
