Nominations are closing soon for the Greater Shepparton Volunteer Recognition Awards and Greater Shepparton City Council is reminding residents to nominate a deserving volunteer.

Nominations for the 14th annual awards close at 5pm on Monday, February 27, with the awards an opportunity to recognise and thank volunteers who contribute their time and energy for the good of our community.

Nominations are open to people whose volunteering occurred within Greater Shepparton. The four award categories are young volunteer, adult volunteer, volunteer team and long-serving volunteer.

All nominees and nominators will be invited to celebrate at the Greater Shepparton Volunteer Recognition Awards ceremony held during National Volunteer Week in May.

Mayor Shane Sali urged community members to nominate a deserving recipient who had dedicated their time to assist people within the region.

“Every one of us would know of an individual or group of people who volunteer and make a positive difference within our community,” he said.

“Now is your chance to make sure these people are recognised for their contributions to our region. Volunteers are the backbone of our community. They keep sporting and community clubs running, helping maintain social connections and provide essential services for residents.”
