Vivid Work Crew is ‘kicking grass’ thanks to a club grant from Moama Bowling Club, which enabled it to purchase a brand new lawnmower.

Vivid’s chief executive Scott Alexander said the new Ultima Zero Turn ride-on lawnmower will help the Vivid Work Crew meet the labour demands of local businesses.

“Gardening contracts are a valuable source of skill development and job creation for Vivid Work Crew’s supported employees. Acquiring a new ride-on lawnmower means more garden maintenance projects can be sought, which will further enhance the team’s abilities,” Mr Alexander said.

“The mower will be physically less strenuous for our supported employees to use and much easier to operate in the hotter summer conditions. We are very grateful to Moama Bowling Club for their generous donation.”

Vivid Work Crew provides paid and supported employment opportunities to more than 80 adults with a disability.

This allows the supported employees to engage with, and contribute to, their local community in a way that enriches their lives and enhances their economic participation.

One such community partnership is with the Moama Bowling Club, where the relationship is based on shared values and providing the Vivid Work Crew with garden maintenance opportunities that improve outcomes for people with disability.

Moama Bowling Club’s sales and marketing manager George Santos said the club was incredibly pleased to be able to contribute to such a terrific initiative.

“The new mower will allow the team to work much more expediently, a great benefit to their wellbeing especially during the hot months ahead,” Mr Santos said.

Recently, Moama Bowling Club also supported Vivid’s School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) program through on-site work experience in hospitality, where young adults were able to learn valuable skills and challenge themselves in a supportive work setting.
