The Rochester Public Library is holding its school holiday program, which started on January 3 and will finish on January 25.
One of the activities at the library was to make a keyring using various items commonly found around your home on Wednesday, January 17.
The program is designed for children where they are able to develop skills and build confidence as they work to make something from scratch.
Seventeen children attended the 45-minute long session who were aged between five to 13.
Mila Cottam, Olivia Mundie, Izzy Brooks and Billie Watson were quick to get started.
Mila, 12, had a great time making the keyrings.
“I think it’s better than sitting at home watching television,” Mila said.
Olivia Mundie enjoys being creative.
“It’s a great way for children to be creative and once they’re finished they can decorate their school bags with what they made,” Olivia said.
Zach Barter was their with his younger half-brother Toby (Cook) and parents Dean and Michelle from Lockington.
“I had a lot of fun making my keyring, even though my dad helped me with some of it,” Zach said.
Jordan Moroney, 7, also had a good time with the activity.
“I had a lot of fun,” Jordan said.
“I would like to come back again sometime and make something else.”
Campaspe Shire Mayor Rob Amos said the library school holiday program was a great way to keep kids entertained while they’re home.
“There’s a huge range of activities available including author visits, movie afternoons, picnic storytimes, jigsaw making, craft sessions and more.
