The Echuca Library will be closed next week to accommodate some special guests to the region.
As part of Victoria’s Legislative Council sitting for Parliament in the Echuca Library, the building will be unavailable to provide library services between April 13 and April 19.
Campaspe Shire Mayor Cr Rob Amos encourages library members to use the extensive online resources and digital services available 24/7.
“From e-books and audiobooks to online databases and research tools, our digital library offers a wealth of resources accessible from the comfort of your home,” he said.
“Additionally, we encourage patrons to stock up on books and materials in advance of the closure. Borrow as many items as you need to keep you entertained and informed during this period.”
Library patrons can keep their library items until the Echuca Library re-opens on April 20, and all library loans have been extended, so loans are not due during this time.
“Take advantage of our extended borrowing periods to ensure you have plenty of reading material to tide you over as all library loans have been extended, so loans are not due during this time,” Cr Amos said.
“We no longer have overdue fines, and the after-hours chute will be closed.”
Phone support will be available, and home-based deliveries will continue as usual.
All online services will be available and libraries at our other locations will be operating as normal.
Cr Amos encourages those who prefer to visit a library in person to explore other local libraries.
“Our other libraries and library depots within Campaspe will be ready to welcome you and provide access to their collections and services,” he said.
While no access to the library will be allowed during this period, residents are welcome to be part of the public gallery on the actual sitting day on Thursday, April 18.
Cr Amos reminded residents of the security requirements for attending the Legislative Council’s session.
“Members of the public who wish to attend the public gallery will be required to show photo ID and to pass through a security point and bag check,” he said.
“This is a great chance for MPs to connect with their regional constituents and find out what local issues are.”
