Unlocked cars, garden sheds, and even homes were targeted in a daring overnight crime spree in Yarrawonga Mulwala last week.
Police are investigating a number of thefts, which are believed to be linked, that occurred in the local area between Monday and Tuesday, December 9 and 10.
Opportunistic thieves have entered two unlocked vehicles parked outside a Jane Road address in Yarrawonga, stealing a set of keys, a small amount of cash and some tools.
It’s believed during the same evening the same offenders entered a garden shed at a Silverwoods property, stealing gardening equipment.
It’s also likely the same offenders then attended a Botts Road address and have attempted to gain entry into a house, whilst the occupants were asleep at approximately 2.55am on Tuesday, December 10.
One of the owners had awoken and sighted a male in his pool area, disturbing him when he yelled out.
Yarrawonga Police Sergeant Bree George believed the incidents were possibly linked.
“It’s believed the offenders decamped from the area in three separate vehicles,” Sgt George said.
“Cobram CIU detectives are investigating all three incidents and are liaising with NSW police who are also investigating two stolen vehicles from Mulwala (Wanani Road) which occurred the same evening and have since been since located in the Shepparton area.
“These incidents are a timely reminder to ensure your vehicles and houses are locked and secured,” Sgt George said.
