It has been a busy year for the Seymour Goulburn Lions, with plenty to look back on at the annual changeover dinner on Tuesday, July 4.

The group gathered dressed in their winter woolies for the winter wonderland-themed event at Seymour Bowls Club with special guest David Cordell, the second Vice District Governor.

Members volunteered approximately 7148 hours of their time over the course of the year. Adaptability was the name of the game in 2022.

Support was offered after the October 2022 floods. Along with Rotary, Lions helped feed flood victims at the Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre.

Determined to lift spirits by holding Carols by Candlelight, the location was changed to St Mary’s College when it became clear Goulburn Park would not be ready.

As usual, Lions held numerous barbecues and fundraisers at various community events and ran a weekly soup night at the Salvation Army hall.

Causes supported by the Lions this year include cancer research and funding for local hospitals and schools for much needed equipment and flood recovery efforts.

Seymour College Principal Debbie Oliver and Rhys Saultry from Seymour Health were both presented with checks on the night.

They also lent their time and resources to numerous niche projects and individual causes, such as helping local boy Mason Beatie attend the Australian Cross Country Championships.

Leonie Willis will remain President for her third consecutive term, while Bronwyn Allen will step down from the role of secretary after five years, with Liz Johnstone will taking on the role.
