CFA volunteers leapt into action in the early hours of Thursday, March 30 when a B-double truck caught fire near Boho.

Crews from Baddaginnie, Violet Town and Euroa attended and Baddaginnie CFA Captain Ben Cook said thanks to a quick-thinking driver and the speed at which crews arrived one of the trailers and the prime mover were saved.

“The rear trailer was fully engulfed when we arrived, and the driver had already disconnected the trailers,” Mr Cook said.

“It took about 30 minutes to get under control, but CFA was on the scene for up to five hours.”

That was due to the fact the load needed to be pulled apart to fully extinguish the fire, and ensure it didn’t reignite.

Mr Cook thanked all the other volunteers who attended.

“After the fire we all had to go off to work,” he said.

“It can be pretty tough but that’s all part of being a CFA volunteer.

“Fortunately these late night-early morning fires don’t happen all the time.”
