Local footballer Franklin Murray-Wright is taking big strides in the AFL earning a spot on the Under 15 All-Australian team.
His impressive rise through the ranks of the sport is a testament to his dedication, his family’s support, and the encouragement of his local community.
Murray-Wright’s football journey began in his early years at Corowa Public School, where he first took to the field as part of the Auskick program.
Now a Year 9 student at Corowa High School, he has consistently demonstrated exceptional talent and commitment on the field.
From his early days with the Corowa Rutherglen Junior Football Club, where he progressed through the under 12s to the under 16s, Franklin’s prowess has been evident.
“This year, Franklin also played for the under 15’s team at his school,” Franklin’s mum Rhonda Wright said.
“His exceptional skills and determination earned him a spot on the Riverina Team, where he was named MVP.
“This accolade led to his selection for the NSW Combined High School Team, where he had the honour of serving as captain.”
His dedication to the sport, fuelled by his early experiences and the mentorship of his great-grandfather, has driven him towards his dream of playing in the AFL.
Ms Wright expressed her pride in her son’s achievements and the critical role played by the Corowa Rutherglen Junior Football Club’s coaching staff, including Wayne Patton, Davis Coppolino, Dave Anderson and Beau Longmire.
“Their guidance has been crucial in Franklin’s development,” she said.
“Our family, including Franklin’s aunties Rachel Robinson Minogue and Tracey Robinson, and his uncle Pat, have also been a tremendous support, coaching him at home.”
As Franklin Murray-Wright continues to make strides in his football career, he serves as a remarkable example for aspiring young footballers in the community.
