Many public spaces around Lockington have recently received upgrades.
Lockington Community Bank, through Lockmore Financial Services, gifted $100,000 to the community in July 2023.
Over the past 12 months, these funds have been distributed by the Lockington and District Planning Group to deliver many community-benefiting projects across the town.
Among the recipients was the Lockington Community Centre, which received funding for a new bench at the hall entrance, and will also have new air conditioning installed by the end of June.
Lockington Community Centre treasurer Bev Brereton said the works at the hall were successful, and also shared what the Lockington Bowls Club used its funding for.
“At the bowls club, we have the new roof on which is very good and air conditioning too,” she said.
“We’re very thankful, it’s been very successful.”
Other funded projects include sound-proofing the ceiling at Lockington Recreation Reserve, new carpet for Lockington Golf Club, a new fence at Scurrah Reserve, with all remaining works to be completed by the end of June.
