Watty Thompson is set to make the trip back home and step into the spotlight in front of a crowd of familiar faces at Riverboats Music Festival in February.

The Lockington born and bred performer is emerging as a striking and entirely unique singer-songwriter in the Australian music scene.

While his sets are enigmatic and high-energy, Watty’s sound is a delightful combination of country and folk — no doubt inspired by his upbringing in Lockington and Echuca, where he lived and attended school.

Central to his undeniable charm is a knack for creating authentic connections with his audience.

It comes naturally to this empathic musician whose lyrics, approach and on-stage demeanour so easily portrays all the joys and sorrows that make us who we are.

In 2022, he joined Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys as their main support for the Sydney favourites’ Victorian tour, paving the way for a number of sell-out headline shows in Victoria and NSW.

His rollicking debut singles The Beauty That Surrounds Ya, Jenny and City To Run have been celebrated, receiving regular airplay on the radio airwaves.

Those fortunate enough to catch Watty’s set may experience a full gamut of emotions from tears and laughter, to wild dancing and everything in between, but this all just a testament to his relatable storytelling abilities.

Be sure to catch Watty’s set at Riverboats’ main-stage on Saturday, February 18.

And if you can’t make it to that, he will be performing an hour-long set on the paddlesteamer Pevensey from 1pm on Sunday, February 19.
